Philippine Airlines has re-considered yesterday its decision to axe Toronto from September 18, 2013 by announcing that it will continue to fly eastern Canada three times a week.

The airline said it has secured approval to lease two more A340-300 to support this route and its growing long haul network.

Earlier, PAL said it terminated the service because it wont have the aircraft to service Toronto.

  2. Philippine Airlines is not yet ready to expand routes. Philippine Airlines needs to look for more long haul aircraft. It said that all Boeing 777-300ER planes will be used for Europe. I thought Philippine Airlines will use Boeing 777-300ER for San Francisco, Los Angeles, and even New York and Chicago once our country, the Republic of the Philippines, was restored to Category 1 by FAA. Philippine Airlines should add more Boeing 777-300ER, and/or buy Boeing 747-8i, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350 XWB, and even Airbus A380.

  6. The case for 747-8i becomes stronger due to timing issue as these can be available from 2015. They can replace the 747-400s. Likely also additional 777-300ERs. Available delivery slots for the 787s and A350s will only be around 2019 onwards and the 777X from about 2021.

  7. Manila and some of our major airports can handle the 747-8i. PAL should consider that because production of the 747-8 is flawless and they could receive it early. Same goes with the B77Ws, which according to specifications still outclasses the upcoming A350XWB in terms of performance. If PAL wants to go further at lower costs they should focus on Boeing for a while.

  9. anyway..it was just leased..so they can terminate it as soon as PAL can acquire more aircraft..maybe sir RSA was waiting for sumting big so that he can correctly assign specific aircraft to its appropriate mission..

  10. We just need to wait. They still have aroung 30+ planes to order. They're planning to purchase 100 planes right? and probably the others will be long haul.

  11. PAL is leasing aircraft's, which lead them paying for the planes that their using. This shows that they arent ready to purchase any more aircraft or its just they dont have enough money to purchase more. It takes time to add more fleet. Well, maybe the reason why for all of this transferring is that they want the passengers flying to Europe to be more satisfied with the latest aircraft's then the old planes. They want to put Europe as their first priority because the routes they are expanding too may increase their income more significantly. PAL knows what their doing. They been through this and theyll restore back their planes once more aircraft's purchased.

    1. I think it's not really a matter of money but rather the availability of the plane. When an airline buys a new aircraft, it will take at least a year to get it while in leasing they can get secondhand aircraft and then simply refurbish it.

  12. i,ve been on this route with pal 777, it feels like a a340 300 from emirates. really shitty, bad service, and 3-4-3 seating, pal wake up!!!! were customers and we want what we need, please think abit about passangers, not just quantity, getting bigger, expanding etc... build a nice airport and infrastructure, everything takes so long. and get some nicer seats in business class, they are awfull, no privacy at all, and not state of the art interior.people is so proud of this carrier, imagine how long it took for this country to get category 1, i,ve been to airports in Europe, america, they are not so nice like singapore, hk and so on. but everything is so efficient, and comfortable chairs in airports, not like manila with metal chairs and stinky bathrooms and even duty free is to small. never gonna go with this airlin again for long haul!

    1. If you really flew PAL from YYZ on business class, basing from the "awfull" seats, did you really? Dear, 3-4-3 is for the economy class. Plus, they can build their own airport but it should have the government's approval first. Ergo, they can't as long as the government won't allow them.

    2. I was in economy with 777 from canada. And when i went to nrt earlier i was 8n businnes. Fully flat seats but 2-3-2 seating. And there is no privacy at all.

  13. they have commercials about philippines on tv and its tempting for tourists to see it, fix the congestion in airports and cities. the first impression people get from arriving in an country is the airport, wake up politicians. i was on garuda a330 flight to japan, and it was amazing, good servive, food , nice uniforms and pretty girls with a smile. not a arrogant (im so proud) pal cabincrew.

  14. I want a clear explanation, will Philippine Airlines surely fly to Paris and Amsterdam starting October 27, 2013 and Rome starting December 1, 2013? I confused about this. In Wikipedia, Paris, Rome, and Amsterdam was removed from Philippine Airlines destinations page, as well as in Ninoy Aquino International Airport under Philippine Airlines (found in Airlines and Destinations). Philippine Airlines was also removed in Wikipedia page of Charles de Gaulle Airport, Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

  15. First time i traveled with Qatar was because its cheap. But the airline is way to good for low price. I.ve always been a pal fan until i tried a new airline. it will be same price as pal on long haul and i recommend them 100%. And their new 16 billion airport opens before christmas. Stop over is awesome when many of the duty free products is half the price than in dirty manila. In 10 years pal will be bankrupt if no changea

  16. I love pal but when i go long haul never. They dont offer the same as the big ones at same price. Skyscanner offer very cheap dreals with cathay malaysia singapore and qatar.

  17. PAL should field young and idealistic FA's to Europe, supervised by maybe more senior staff. The reason being is that, young, single upstarts tend to be more enthusiastic with their job offering more pleasant service. The older ones, preoccupied with family thoughts, tend to be less patient with passengers as I've noticed. Having done that, seen that, been through that, they tend to be more accepting of bad habits they have acquired, like ignoring calls, rude attitude to passengers they think are professionally below them (domestics, common with PAL flights to the middle east before they stopped). I've noticed this first hand and I was appalled. Long haul is a long time for a passenger to suffer bad service. I hope PAL can do something about this too.
